In 2020, the Institute Without Boundaries [IwB] is challenging students from around the world to understand, visualize and propose design solutions that will help solve challenges faced by communities across Canada in creating Smart Cities that are ethical, intelligent, inclusive, sustainable and universal. The themes are real-life challenges that communities race against the clock to solve.

What is a charrette ? A charrette is a collaborative and creative process that brings together diverse groups of students, professionals, and community stakeholders to develop innovative solutions to complex problems.

- Prior to the event, we proactively created a comprehensive guide to welcome and support participants throughout the duration of the event.

- Our contributions included developing short-term interventions and proposing long-term solutions to combat food insecurity in the Halifax Region.

- We collaborated with various stakeholders to understand, visualize, and propose innovative design solutions for Smart Cities.

- Our efforts focused on integrating ethical considerations, intelligence, inclusivity, sustainability, and universality into Smart City development.
